Currency
The currency in the Cook Islands is the New Zealand Dollar. There are some coins that are specific to the Cook Islands (and therefore cannot be used in New Zealand), but other than that the money is the same.
Opening a bank account
To open a bank account with any bank you will need to take your birth certificate, passport with visa, for some you may also need your employment agreement, and confirmation of address. There will be forms to fill out (in English).
