Worship
What you need to know
The Cook Islands is generally considered to be a Christian-based nation. While the Country’s Constitution (Article 64, Part IV – Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms) states that “individuals have the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion, including the freedom to adopt or change a religion or belief, and individuals can manifest their religion through worship practice, teaching, and observance either individually or in community with others” – in practice, there is little tolerance for non-Christian-based faiths. This is important to understand.
