About
The Kora Pearls Story
Who We Are
A legacy of Craftsmanship and Family
Kia Orana and welcome to Kora Pearls our names are Kora and Nancy. Nestled in the heart of the Cook Islands, where the turquoise waters meet the sun-kissed shores, we’ve been able to cultivate more than just a pearl farm; we’ve nurtured a legacy spanned over 3 generations. For over 35 years, our commitment to our faith and family has transformed our humble business into a benchmark for Cook Islands Black Pearls jewelry.
Our story begins with our parents, eager pearl farmers inspired by the beauty of our Cook Islands waters. They planted the seeds of their dream in the clear untouched lagoon of Manihiki, located in the northern part of the Cook Islands.
A natural habitat where the mother-of-pearl shells have flourished for generations. Believing that pearls were not simply gems, but treasures waiting to tell their stories much like the journey of our family.
Today with the help of our children we are determined to produce the finest Black Pearls in the Cook Islands. Everyone plays an important role in our family business. While we take care of overall production and farmwork. Thomas is our lead pearl technician in Manihiki who handles the seeding and harvesting process of our pearls. James and Kc assist on the farm station performing laborious tasks which include diving and regular maintenance of our healthy oysters. Once we have harvested our pearls Tire creatively sets them into jewelry art pieces and crafts. Each pearl we offer is a testament to our dedication, embodying not just the allure of the Cook Islands but also the meticulous care that goes into every piece.
Our values of quality, authenticity, and family shine through in everything we do. Abiding by the strict requirements of the
“Manihiki Lagoon Management Plan” means our pearls have had a grow out period of 18 months for a first seeding and 12 months for successive seedings. This produces excellent nacre thickness resulting in better lustre, appearance and longevity for your one-of-a-kind Kora Pearl.
We are honored to continue this legacy, ensuring that our customers not only receive beautiful jewelry but also a piece of our family’s story. We invite you to embark on a journey with us one that discovers the timeless elegance of Cook Islands Black Pearls.
These pearls are more than jewelry; they are a reflection of nature’s elegance and generations of craftsmanship
